Vendetta Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Guild Software, Inc, with builds for Linux as well, besides Windows and Mac OS. The game takes place throughout the Vendetta space universe, and players can choose from a large range of factions to play with.
Currently there is a trial available which allows players to try the full game, without any restrictions, for eight hours. Just create an account, download and install the game and then you can try it freely. After the trial ends, you can choose to become a subscriber for $9.99 on a monthly basis, or prepay several months in advance for a discount.
The first time the game starts, the player has to complete a tutorial, or press Esc and proceed to playing online.
You can create characters to play with, and choose one of three factions: the UIT (Union of Independent Territories), the Serco Dominion, or the Itani Nation, each of them having specific abilities and gameplay. Once creating a character, you can purchase a ship, customize it, buy weapons and power cells (initially the options are very limited).
According to the developers, Vendetta Online benefits from weekly updates and fixes.
