Calibre, the document viewer and organizer (also called an e-library), has received another major update today, just one week away after the 2.4 version was published on September 25. This version brings three new features and includes many bug fixes for the popular document viewer.
Just a few hours ago, the third installment of the Stronghold series, Stronghold 3, has been released on Steam for Linux too.

SMPlayer is a powerful video player for Linux and Windows, based on MPlayer, with countless features and options. Together with VLC, I believe there is no match for it when it comes to movie players.
In this article I will overview the main things that make SMPlayer stand out of the crowd, putting it on the top of the video playback applications list. SMPlayer is written in Qt 4.8 and uses MPlayer2 for video playback. Personally I have only words of praise for this player, which is why I decided to write this review. So let’s proceed and see what the most important features of SMPlayer are.
Just a few minutes ago Urban Terror 4.2.20 was released with a rather long list of bug fixes to the new mod introduced in 4.2.19, Freeze Tag.

The September update to KDE Software Compilation has been released a few hours ago. This version fixes over 50 bugs and brings improvements to the Kontact personal information manager, the Okular universal document viewer, Umbrello UML modeller, Parley vocabulary app and Dolphin file manager.

Frozen Sand has released a new update, 4.2.019, for its first-person shooter Urban Terror. If you already have Urban Terror installed, you only need to run the updater from the installation directory, without the need to download the entire game again.
Urban Terror is a first-person shooter set in realistic environments, initially started as a Quake 3 modification, and turning into a standalone game. It features online multiplayer, tons of maps, mods and weapons, but also features like acceleration and trickjumps. Some popular maps from other games are ported to Urban Terror, like the well-known dust2 from Counter-Strike:
VCMI is an ambitious project that aims to recreate the entire Heroes III engine and add new features, and has been in the works for a few years, and up to now it is in good shape.

Aeon Command has been made available through Steam on Linux too. The game is available for purchase at a modest price of 2.54€, however a Linux demo is available on their website (see below for instructions on how to run the demo).
I’m sure Ubuntu users who happen to love a classic desktop will be pleased to see how this project develops into a solid distribution. Although MATE is available in the repositories starting with Trusty, and there are well-established distributions that use MATE like Linux Mint, Ubuntu MATE may just have enough supporters to succeed.
The distribution is not yet an official Ubuntu flavor, however, according to the information on the website, work is being done in this regard.

PCManFM, the file manager that comes with the LXDE environment, has reached version 1.2.1 after four months of work, bringing many bug fixes and improvements. This release was also accompanied by a new version of libfm as well. Let’s have a look at this new version.
Cinnamon has come a long way in terms of both usability and responsiveness, and Mint 17 ‘Qiana’ stands proof of this. As mentioned in my review of Mint 17 KDE edition, this release will be supported for five years, and it will also be the base for development of future Mint releases.
Mint 17 ‘Qiana’ uses the Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty base and features Cinnamon 2.2, Linux Kernel 3.13.0 and the MDM 1.6 login manager.
