NeonView, the free lightweight image viewer created by TuxArena, has reached version 0.8.2. This release brings a segmentation fault fix when there was no image in the current directory and NeonView was started without any arguments. You can download it from here.

According to a development update posted on Ubuntu Fridge by the Ubuntu developer Daniel Holbach, Ubuntu 12.04 is on its way to release the first beta next week, on February 29, after the user interface freeze which occured today. “Today User Interface Freeze and Beta Freeze will kick in, next week we will do a test rebuild of the whole archive and Beta 1 will get out next week as well.”

NeonView is a new minimalist, lightweight image viewer, completely free and open-source, licensed under the GPLv2 and developed by TuxArena.

This first release, codenamed ‘Betta splendens’, includes just a handful of features for now, however it is the base on which development of more advanced features will take place. Still, the goal of NeonView is to remain clean and lightweight, while also trying to implement only the needed functions that a simple image viewer should have.
