There is this KDE bug which will open by default any movie application with Kaffeine, even though another program is set to open these. One solution would be to completely remove Kaffeine, this way the next application in the default applications list will be used.
However, if you don’t want to remove Kaffeine, you can try the following steps:
Issue the following command in a terminal:
if is the input file, in this case the ISO image, and of is the output device. Replace /dev/sdX with the letter corresponding to your USB device (e.g. /dev/sdb).
The monthly KDE update, 4.11.2, has been released earlier today, fixing over 70 bugs, including KWin, Dolphin and the personal information manager application Kontact.

Each Linux Mint release usually offers four flavors, to say nothing about LMDE: Mint Cinnamon, Mint MATE, Mint KDE and Mint Xfce. The MATE edition is based around a desktop environment forked from GNOME 2, featuring a similar interface and a familiar user interaction experience. MATE started as a need of some users to have the classic GNOME 2.x interface once GNOME 3 was released with huge interface changes. MATE does offer a classic, solid and familiar interface, and it also provides a compositing window manager for graphical effects and transparency.

Atris
Alizarin Tetris, or Atris, is a 2D graphical Tetris clone with some very neat features. I find it easier to handle since moving the pieces to left or right is done instantly, faster, without the short delay typical Tetris games have. It is also possible to use accelerated speed (default key Down Arrow) and then, when the piece is near the bottom, quickly move it left or right. It provides fullscreen or windowed mode, has graphical configuration options (except for the resolution), keyboard shortcuts, color schemes and pieces schemes. It seems that it doesn’t save the toggle fullscreen option between sessions, but this can be fixed by manually editing the ~/.atrisrc file and setting full_screen to 0 or 1. Press Q to quit a running game.

I tried 4.10 in Kubuntu 13.04 Daily Build, which is still two months away from being released but, surprise, KDE 4.10 seems very stable. The system is up to date as of March 4, 2013, and I installed a few more applications from the repositories to see how they work.

TuxArena now has a new WordPress theme. There is still some work that I have to do on the comments, that is, make them look nicer, but otherwise it seems to work well. Hope you like it ;) If I can finish it, maybe I’ll try submitting it to the WordPress themes directory.
According to this announcement on the official Debian website, Debian logos may be used freely for both non-commercial and commercial purposes.
In addition to this, the final artwork for the upcoming release 7.0 codenamed ‘Wheezy’ has been published too, just a few days after the Debian Installer RC1 was released. The artwork is following a light-blue pattern. You can download an archive containing the artwork from here. The package contains PNG and SVG files for the background, grub, the Debian installer, syslinux and even artwork designed for merchandising purposes (like T-Shirts, mugs etc).

I was pretty reluctant in trying Steam on Linux ever since it was made available, but what made me install it was that Counter-Strike is now available on Linux via Steam too. I used to play this a lot a few years back and CS for Steam was put out on February 6. So I bought the Counter-Strike Anthology pack during this weekend deal and decided to give it a try.
I made this review after a fresh install of Mint 14 Xfce ‘Nadia’ from the ISO DVD and a full sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.
